Description and History

Crompton's former DC generating station, 1886, rebuilt after fire, 1895.

Relegated to converter station following establishment of AC generating station at Wood Green, 1900.

Eventually converted to AC.

Later closed; no equipment remains.

Recently rebuilt as offices behind facade.

Subways beneath Kensington Court residential development carried bare copper conductors and water supplies.
