Craven Limeworks - Settle

Inside the Hoffmann kiln at the Craven Limeworks. The continuous firebrick-lined firing chamber was divided into 22 discrete chambers each with its own doorway or wicket. The fuel-feed holes are contained with the vaulted roof and each chamber has two flue outlets, on opposing sides at the base of the side walls.
