Greenwich Station

Description and History of Site:-
London and Greenwich Railway terminus moved short distance east to here, 1877, in preparation for Dartford extension via Maze Hill. Stands virtually as completed, 1878. Neat, 2-storey brick building of seven bays with Portland stone ornamentation, fronted by large courtyard. Upper part of station buildings not now in railway use. Stone block sleepers from original L&GR track are granite kerbstones in alleyway to west. Platform layout altered late 1990's to accommodate DLR.
