Waterloo Station

Description and History of Site:-
Built for LSWR, original station opened 1848. Present structure mainly 1901-22. Engineer J.W. Jacomb Hood, succeeded by A. W. Szlumper. Roof over platforms 16-21 dates from earlier rebuild of 1885, since redeveloped to form terminal for Channel Tunnel trains. Opulent facade by J.R. Scott. The Victory Arch is grade II listed. Former International platforms 20-24 now form part of the main station. The last Eurostar departed in November 2007.
