Lovell's Wharf

Description and History of Site:-
Originally a coal wharf (local streets are named after County Durham collieries), used 1920s-1980s by Shaw Lovell & Co. for trans-shipment of metal. Notable for the two Scotch Derrick cranes. Shaw Lovell & Co, ship's agents, were originally based in Bristol and moved HQ to Greenwich after WW2. Site closed 1980s, cranes demolished 2001, site subsequently cleared and redeveloped.
