Filey Gas Works (site of)

Description and History of Site:-
In a very hard red brick. Plain brickwork articulated by simple pilasters and simple iron-framed windows. A little decorative use of yellow brick e.g. round circular lunette.

In 2002 the retort house was still almost intact and represented a rare survival of a 1st generation gas works. Site now redeveloped as a Tesco supermarket.
