Fulford Road Tram Depot

Description and History of Site:-
With buttercross in front. York Tramways formed 1879 as a horse drawn operation (with some steam powered services). Bought out by York Corporation in 1909, the tram network was progressively expanded and electrified. The electric service from Fulford (where this depot was) opened in January 1910. With the progressive introduction of motor buses and trolley buses, and increasing competition, by 1935 the trams stopped running. In 1973, the depot remained in use as a motor garage. It was demolished in the early 1990s.
