Providence Smelt Mill

Description and History of Site:-
A small two hearth smelt mill built circa 1780 to serve the small mines in the White's family royalties. There was only a short flue and no condenser. The date the mill fell out of use is not known.

The rear hearth is partially intact and the cupola leading the flue still has the springing for the arch in place. The ground level around the mill is somewhat higher than it would have been when the mill was in operation. The water-supply arrangement to the bellows waterwheel is not immediately obvious.
