Broom Mills, Farsley

Description and History of Site:-
Woollen mill acquired by Reuben Gaunt in 1886. The family was already established in Farsley as woollen worsted spinners. Reuben Gaunt and Sons incorporated as a private limited company in 1897 and prospered as manufacturers, principally of woollen serges, for much of the following 100 years.

Began production of non-woven fabrics in 1973. Production ceased in 1998 and Reuben Gaunt & Sons Limited were dissolved 28 June 2005, by which time Broom Mills had been demolished.
