Description and History of Site:-
Opened 1844. Original engine house remains, yellow stock brick with 15 ft square tank tower 54 ft high. Buildings and Cornish steam engine built by Easton & Amos pumped from 2 wells to supply water to Government offices in Whitehall, Downing St; Trafalgar Square fountains;. National Gallery; Houses of Parliament and, from 1847, Buckingham Palace. Electric pumps still lifting water from wells.
