Description and History of Site:-
Small country-type Tudor style brick station building, 1849. Designed by Sir William Tite for the Richmond & West End Railway (later controlled by LSWR) - opened 27 July 1846. One of Tite's four 'Tudor' stations on the Richmond line. Red brick with diapering stone dressings, steep gabled roofs with kneelers, dormer windows, and very tall coupled hexagonal chimney stacks. Some alterations were made c. 1881. Projecting frontage may be an early addition, also by Tite, who was the LSWR architect.
