Leyburn Mill / Walk Mill

Description and History of Site:-
A small 2 storeys water power corn mill, shown as Walk Mill on the OS map of 1853-4.

The mill buildings date back to the 16th C. Milling ceased either during or shortly after WWII. n 1969 the mill retained some of its original 19c machinery. Now a house.

OS Maps and satellite photographs show a mill dam at SE12168984, partially obscured by trees and what appears to be a very long mill leat starting at SE12109040 and running partially underground and a tail-race ending at SE1222889
