Description and History of Site:-
In 1804, when it was for sale, the three storey mill measured 86ft by 32ft and had a 21ft dia. and 6ft wide water wheel as well as a crank steam engine with a 42" cylinder. Also Warehouse, dyehouse, wool drying house and four storey building, partly 10 cottages.
An early steam powered woollen mill run by John and Samuel Lees. Converted to cotton spinning after 1804. Possibly taken by Thomas and James Greenwood after 1804. In 1811 they had 12 mules with 240 spindles each. The Greenwoods were also cotton manufacturers.

By the 1880's in use for wool combing.
