Bridge End Quarry

Description and History of Site:-
It consists of an elongated open quarry working running along the contour with 4 (possibly 5) adits running south into the hillside. One adit is open for a long way in and has a 24-inch tramway still in situ, but the adit has water higher than wellington level. Two other adits were blocked but have had keyhole access holes opened up to permit access. The remaining one (or two?) are fully blocked. Within the open quarry are the remains of an in-situ wooden A-frame derrick. It is thought to have been worked in the late 19th and possibly early 20th centuries.
