Description and History of Site:-
Five bays with very large windows. Lower floor has original windows with small panes in thin wooden frames top section pivoting open. Stone and slate construction. Two dams. Doorways in far gable wall double doors probably has been a gantry in the gable.
Rope walk of timber construction, two rows of posts supporting a roof boarded and asphalted as is the north side. South side mainly open. Possibly late C17. Believed to have stopped milling corn around 1820-30 at around the time the rope-walk was built although one pair of stones remain. Both mill and rope-walk were powered by a very early turbine which still works although the shafts have been removed. The rope-walk was used by the present occupant until 1965. Top floor of mill used by present owners for hand-loom weaving. (Hatcher 1975).
