Description and History

Last relic of this trade, dominates area. Tall trapezoidal-plan building with concrete interior structure faced with yellow stock brick with diaper patterns in red brick. Alternate lozenges carry monogram 'M'. Grain Silo, has white stone decoration, octagonal staircase on west corner topped with cupola South-east face below parapet bears inscription '1790 Mumford's Greenwich Flour Mills 1867'. Designed by Aston Webb. Undergoing conversion to dwellings 2001 (conversion into flats began 2001). Detailed site report by English Heritage compiled 2000.
