Description and History

Mainly 1872-81. Goodhall St, Stephenson St and rear alleys, Old Oak Lane. Originally 188 cottages of several designs, and hostel built by LNWR after expansion of Willesden Junction. Motive Power Depot Hostel on Old Oak Lane (hostel demolition recorded 6/1967 to make way for roadway to new freight liner depot). Housing Estate of 185 houses (originally 188). Built LNWR mainly during dates above, to house railway employees, with the big expansion at Willesden Junction in the 1870's. The estate lays to the South of Willesden Junction Station and consists of Railway Cottages, 1-78 Old Oak Lane, 1-74 Goodhall Street (No No. 73) & 1-73 Stephenson St (odd only) Nos. 61, 63, 65 Stephenson St missing as a result of bomb damage
