In 1974 Atkinson described the site as - adjoining the railway line is an extensive range of red-brick buildings formerly a brewery. Externally the buildings are very little altered although the premises are now used as a bacon factory.

Plews Brewery & Vale of Mowbray
In 1868, local brewing family Plews purchased the land opposite Leeming Bar Station to build their new brewery. This new site allowed them to expand their business, as they could more easily bring ingredients from local farmers in and send casks of ale out, thanks to the nearby railway line. The Plews family operated from Leeming Bar until 1925, when Camerons Brewery purchased the site.
It was not long before the site changed hands again, and by 1928 the factory opposite Leeming Bar Station was now producing Vale of Mowbray pies. Vale of Mowbray likewise benefited from the nearby railway, using the line to transport livestock directly into the factory. While a fire in 2001 unfortunately destroyed the original building, Vale of Mowbray continues to make pies at the Leeming Bar site to this day.
