Moortown Reservoirs and Water Tower

Description and History of Site:-
Water tower and service reservoirs. The first service reservoir, an arched covered structure in brick, was built here in 1872. The reinforced concrete water tower followed in 1923 and a second service reservoir in 1926. The earlier reservoir was rebuilt using pre cast concrete sections in 2012 at a cost of £4m. At the time of construction the water storage at Moortown was supplied by the North Lane pumping station (WYK01040) in Headingley.
