49 Church Street/31 Square Road

Caption :- Wool warehouse 31 Square Road and 49 Church Street, Halifax. This wool warehouse is the only survivor of three erected in Square Road to the designs of Halifax architect John Hogg. The site is triangular and originally comprised two separate warehouses at the junction of Square Road and Church Street, one facing each street. The original owner was Isaac Cooper, thereafter occupied by a variety of wool merchants, and for a period used by the Great Central Railway Co. as a goods office. More recently the building was occupied by a motor parts distributor. Photo. November 1979.
