49 Church Street/31 Square Road

Caption :- Wool warehouses 31 Square Road and 49 Church Street, Halifax, the only survivor of three erected in Square Road to the designs of Halifax architect John Hogg. The site is triangular and originally comprised two separate warehouses at the junction of Square Road and Church Street, one facing each street. The original owner was Isaac Crossley, thereafter occupied by a variety of wool merchants, and for a period used by the Great Central Railway Co. as a goods office. More recently the building was occupied by a motor parts distributor and used as a hotel annexe. Photo. November 2016.
