Rippon Bros Works - Huddersfield

Rolls-Royce Wraith, limousine, 1939.
Built by Rippon for Lady Florence Bulmer, wife/widow of Sir James William Bulmer. She was a director of Bulmer & Lumb for over 26 years; had 2 more Rolls-Royces in the 1940s/50s. Bulmer & Lumb, Ltd, worsted spinners, dyers and combers were founded in 1931 with HQ at Buttershaw, Bradford. The firm combined: Smith Bulmer & Co Ltd founded 1912, worsted spinners, wool combers and top makers of Halifax and Bradford, the largest individual botany spinning business in the UK; the Bulmer Rayon Co Ltd, producers of fine denier artificial silk yarns, Stowmarket, Suffolk, founded 1924; Ambler & Lumb Ltd, incorporated as a private company in 1909; Joseph Lumb, established c1853, at Folly Hall Mills, Huddersfield.
