Rippon Bros Works - Huddersfield

Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith, 4-door saloon, 1952.
Rippon Bros. ceased coachbuilding in 1952 - this was the last Rolls-Royce they bodied. Having been exhibited at the Earls Court Motor Show, it was purchased by Ramsden, Camm & Co Ltd. They were manufacturers of copper, steel and iron wire for cables and hawsers, for collieries and ships, electrical cables, established in 1840 at Robin Hood Mill, Clifton Road, Brighouse. In 1895 they employed about 300 workers. Later they also occupied Leopold Works, Armytage Road, Brighouse. They were contactors to the UK Government, and railway, telegraph and telephone companies in Europe, America and the East. They were taken over by Spencers of Wakefield, c1960.
