Description and History

Western terminus of the Post Office Railway below Paddington main line station. There is a reversing loop at the west end of the station, and a loco siding. There are two lifts linking to the surface building, chutes for post bags, and stairs.

Although authorised in 1913 and commenced by the start of WWI the completed tunnels were used for wartime storage of museum objects until 1919. Contracts were let for completion of electrical and signalling installations in 1924.
