Elland Lock House - Elland

Calder and Hebble lock-keeper's or lengthsman's cottage (unoccupied) facing Elland Lock at the western end of Freeman's Cut, dug during 1824. This and a similarly designed lock-keeper's cottage at Brookfoot Lock were probably erected as part of this work. The lock house stands beside Elland Lock (SE 11087 21892, grade II) and slightly to the west lies a 100 yards stone (SE 1102 2182) and a milestone 'From Fall Ing 18 miles' (SE 11023 21816). Photo.
