Motor Haulage Depot - Halifax

The depot was erected on part of the site of Harrison and Singleton's timber yard during the period between the wars, as road haulage began successfully to compete with rail transport, and was built to a modern, art-deco design, with a stylish office building facing Horton Street. Part of British Road Services between nationalisation and 1967, the premises were subsequently used by John Mackintosh & Sons Ltd. for warehousing from the 1970s to the mid 1980s. Photo. July 1984.

Date July 1984
