British Rail Freight Depot

Description and History of Site:-
Foss Islands branch of NER. Used for cattle market and industry on east side of River Foss. The Foss Islands branch line opened in 1880 linking the North Eastern Railway's York to Scarborough line to the freight depot at Foss Islands. The line remained open until 1989, the tracks were lifted in 1992.
