Winker Green Mill

Description and History of Site:-
Woollen scribbling and dyeware mill, rebuilt c 1825-30, which is the date of the earliest surviving building, a 4-storeyed workshop for hand-spinning and handloom weaving. Large steam-powered brick mill (4 storeys, 25 bays) built 1833 and 1836, replaced older mill destroyed by fire. Warehouse range, and workers' housing nearby. Occupied by Fred A Lodge & Sons Ltd, of Stone Bridge Mills, in the first half C20 until early 1952.
