Turnbridge Mills

Description and History of Site:-
Stone mill of 1846, 7 storeys. 11 bays. Later mill adjacent built 1872, chimney of later mill separately listed (1409815).

Described in 1890 sales particulars as: 6 storey woollen mill occupied J.Kaye & Co/ Read Holliday & Sons/Shaw & Co./Sam Wood/et.al.: 7 storey, 38 by 18 yards, fireproof, flagged floors, frontage to quay street, connected by gangway to third storey of woollen mill 80hp beam engine, 26 foot flywheel 50 yard octagonal chimney, 6 foot draught, 3 storey willying room and 2 storey warehouse. Currently (2019) in mixed commercial and leisure uses. Built as a fireproof cotton mill and probably let on a room and power basis.
