Description and History of Site :-
Originally opened in 1932 as the Wansford Knight, a roadhouse that provided rooms and a restaurant for travellers.

Became The New Mermaid Inn in 1936. Bought out and rebranded as a Little Chef in the 1970s. Closed 2007.

Renovated as offices in 2013 by Harris McCormack Architects Ltd.

The last remaining example of six Bauhaus Art Deco roadhouses that were originally built on the A1.

Locally listed.
