Goodwin Mills

Description and History of Site:-
A brick-built lace factory with north light roof occupying land between Bennett Street and Bridge Street.


This building fronting Bennett Street was constructed in 1904 for Herbert Sketchley, lace manufacturer. Extended to Bridge Street later. This firm closed in the 1930s and various other industrial uses thereafter. Current occupants (2026) are United Fillings who supply cushions for the upholstery industry.
