North Road Railway Station

Description and History of Site:-
Built c1840 replacing or enlarging the original station of the Stockton and Darlington Railway opened 1825.

Falconer (1980): 'Built in 1842, this station though still in use has been partially converted into a museum to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Stockton & Darlington Railway in 1825. It contains several notable locomotives including Locomotion No. 1 and a 46 ft landscaped layout of the original railway.'
Now part of the Hopetown Darlington museum.
