Paddington Station

Description and History of Site:-
Cathedral-like train shed designed by I. K. Brunel and Matthew Digby Wyatt as London terminus of GWR (1852-54). The Brunel shed was the second terminus of the GWR and was sited south east of the earlier 1838 terminus. Transepts designed for horizontal movement of carriages and locos. Complete with Royal waiting room. Parallel train shed added 1909- 15. Infrequently noticed but impressive GWR extension/rebuilding of 1933 with fine GWR motifs.
