Description and History of Site:-
Built 1896 by the East London Water Company to serve Barking and not East Ham.

Pumping ceased some time after WW2. All pumping equipment has now been removed and the site is now a maintenance depot for Thames Water.

Water pumping station standing in its own grounds on east side of River Roding, built for the East London Water Works Company to pump from a well. Fine engine house with mock hammer-beam roof and tower over the well. All plant has been removed except for a double-girder overhead travelling crane by Marshall, Son & Co Ltd of Gainsborough.

Listed as East Ham Pumping Station, London Road, Barking, TQ 437841 in the Monuments Protection Programme (MPP) Water and Sewerage Industries Step 3 Report for English Heritage, September 2000. It is listed as a water supply site in London. This is on the MPP non-assessed shortlist. 1896
