Description and History of Site:-
Built as a generating station for the Great Northern & City Railway.
Converted to the Gainsborough Film Studios, 1924-49.
Then used as a warehouse.
Facade has been retained in a redevelopment of the site into multi-use, now known as The Gainsborough.
Plaque reads:
Alfred Hitchcock, Michael Balcon, Ivor Novello, Gracie Fields, 'The Lady Vanishes', 'The Wicked Lady' worked and were filmed here
