Norwood Junction Station public pedestrian subway

Description and History of Site:-
Pedestrian subway (LB Croydon footpath 661) linking Station Road with Clifford and Carmichael Roads, South Norwood, independently of Norwood Junction Station's own (internal) subway - provided by Croydon Council in 1910 to segregate public from railway ticket holders.

The subway claims to be the world's first reinforced concrete underpass, marked by a blue plaque.

The station has a separate (internal) subway which was widened by authority of the LBSCR Board on 18 December 1901 when it was resolved that the use of this should be reserved for ticket-holders.
