Description and History of Site:-
Railway station on main Liverpool Street - Chelmsford (Eastern Counties Railway).

Opened as Squirrels Heath & Gidea Park Station 1 December 1910; renamed Gidea Park & Squirrels Heath 1 October 1913; renamed Gidea Park 20 February 1969.

The main station buildings are on the south side. The lines have been widened (? 1930s) from two to four tracks and these and their platforms, in a cutting, are reached by stairways down from a footbridge that also serves to connect the Station Road and Crossways station entrances.

Extensive carriage sidings on north side of line east of the station.
