Description and History of Site:-
Constructed between 1861 and 1863 for the LCDR extension of its Kent Line between Beckenham and Herne Hill and opened 1 July 1863. It was renamed Penge East on 9 July 1923 and has also been called Penge Lane Station.
It is in yellow stock brick with engineering brick, limestone and glazed tile dressings and slate roofs. It comprises 6 bays to the platform and two-bay gabled wings, of two storeys to left, and one storey to right.
The covered footbridge with its corrugated roof dates from the 1880s and is locally listed.
