Description and History of Site:-
Tenter Ground is named after an open space used by Huguenot weavers from the 17th century to dry silk cloths on frames called tenters. These had hooks to pull cloth tightly so that it dried evenly and without creasing. This gave us the phrase 'on tenterhooks' - very tense and pulled tightly.
The initials TKE up high refer to former owner, the artist Tracey Karima Emin.
