Description and History of Site:-
A museum dedicated to the history of the Norfolk Broads, established in predominantly corrugated buildings that were originally associated with boat building.
Displays detailing the industry of the Broads:
• Formation of the Broads by peat digging
• Boat building
• Leisure boating
• Retailing
• Brewing
Trips are run from the museum on the Victorian steam launch ‘Falcon’, built in 1894 by Simpson & Strickland of Dartmouth. Its first owner was Sir Edmond Lacon, of Lacon’s Brewery, Great Yarmouth and it was used as a tug in both world wars.
