Description and History of Site:-
Derelict brick and pantile building alongside beck. Two storeys and loft. Numerous flat arched brick lintel windows.
Hatcher considered the possibility that this was a watermill (unlikely). Alternatively, part of a boatyard. A building with the same outline as that photographed in 1973 stands on the same foundations today (2017).
The Spital Beck is tidal at this point and on the 6" 1853 O S Map described as a Timber Pond.
