Turnpike bridge

Description and History of Site:-
Information panel nearby reads:

'In 1768 the road was turnpiked and a bridge was built over the river. Newmarket Road is still known as The Turnpike Road by older residents of the parish. Over the years the road underwent successive improvements. It was re-aligned and a new A11 bridge opened in 1963. The present dual carriageway was built in 1985/6 and opened by Peter Bottomley MP, the then Minister for roads.'
