White Castle Brewery - Halifax

Purpose-built brewery erected about 1891 for farmer and established brewer, Daniel Fielding. From 1862 onwards, along with his three sons, Fielding established a small tied estate. After 1945 the business was continued by a third generation of the family. During 1961 negotiations were completed with Samuel Webster and Sons Limited who purchased their nineteen tied properties. The brewery buildings remained in the Fielding family ownership until the death during 1986, aged eighty-eight, of Kathleen Fielding. Soon afterwards the contents and brewery were sold and the buildings converted into apartments. General view, February 1977.
