Pikedaw Calamine Caverns - Kirkby Malham

The Great Shake Hole which remained flooded during the mines working life. Clay was puddled into the hole to prevent water entering the mine caverns below. Dressing floors are also visible with water in the pond being used in the initial dressing process before the calamine was transported into Malham village for the roasting process.
